Learning and working in Dennis O’Neill’s School of Acting has reinforced my faith as an actor in the entertainment industry. Yes, as actors, models and talent for Christ, we must go into the world as God's disciples and ambassadors. But we do not live there. 'Our citizenship is in Heaven' (Philippians 3:20), and we must seek close kinship with people clearly on the right side.

'No one can serve two masters' (Matthew 6:24). Close association with ungodly people presents an inevitable conflict of interest and a great temptation.

Jesus speaks clearly about avoiding temptation in the Lord's prayer (Luke 11:2-4), and in His anguished Words at the Garden of Gethsemane: 'Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak' (Matthew 26:41).

Purposely hanging with the wrong crowd once their hearts become known to you causes God to 'turn away from you.' Therefore at any cost, avoid peer pressure. Dennis O’Neill’s class provides this safe environment.

Remember here's the thing: circumstantial success (success dependent on where we are or what we're doing) does not exist for God's chosen people. He already promised to bless us in every place and every endeavor.

'The Lord will command the blessing on you in your storehouses and in all to which you set your hand' (Deuteronomy 28:8). Note the word, 'all.'

When we are properly trained, appreciative, and productive on small stages, we will be promoted to larger ones. As Jesus said, 'Well done, good servant; because you were faithful in a very little, have authority over ten cities' (Luke 19:17).

God is the Promoter. He will tell you when the time is right to move forward. He will open the door to bigger roles, but it will always follow your faithfulness, excellence, and thankfulness in smaller ones.

Dennis’s School of Acting has helped give me the foundation and learning environment I need to prosper  and be a light in the darkness of the entertainment industry.

Sincerely,
Trent Hotman

Taking acting classes with Dennis has helped me look into every area of what it takes to be an actor in this industry. It is a tough industry and the competition is fierce. Studying with him helps one grow not only the talent required to pursue an acting career but most importantly the inner focus needed to withstand what comes at you. He fills classes with improv and scene study but also takes time out for coaching the class to look inward at what makes them grow and stand up in the face of the negative influences and rejections. If God is for you, who can be against you? Realizing this fact is essential when looking towards the world. The entertainment industry is filled with immoral outlooks and as we go forward to be a light to a lost and dying world it is encouraging to study with an acting coach who inspires you with encouraging words of hope towards a prosperous future.  See you Monday night!
